Vol. 1 contains a declaration signed Carteret, dated the 18th day of April 1722, granting John Barber a Royal licence to print to print and publish Buckingham's Works .. for 14 years
Some copies of vol. 2 include 'A character of John Sheffield'
'A character' may or may not be present, but not integral part of the work. ESTC/NA have 2 copies with it. If present, vol.2 = iv,[2],48,272,xliv (48 = 'The character'). Sometimes bound with 'The castrations', i.e. a separate edition (by Curll (MH-H) or Lintot? (KU-S)) of the two essays, entitled 'Some account of the revolution' and 'A feast of the gods', excised from the first edition, restored in the second (1726), and again omitted in this edition (cf. DNB). The two essays were also published at the Hague as 'Buckingham restor'd'
