The following Report has been prepared chiefly from a collation of the details given in the Witness, Scottish Guardian, and Border Watch newspapers. In some instances the Speeches have been revised by the authors, and the Reports of Committees have been taken from the Missionary Record, when these have appeared there. Besides the Table of Contents, there is given an Index Digest of the Proceedings, which may be found useful for a reference.

As a matter of interest, it may be stated, that there were 18 Reports of Missionary, Educational, and Benevolent Schemes, submitted to the Assembly—4 deputations from different bodies were received—5 cases of Translation, and 6 cases of Discipline were discussed, in two of which he ministers were suspended, one for teaching erroneous doctrine, the other for threatening to appeal to the Civil Courts; and in all the decision was unanimous-no vote was ever taken-none was called for.

It was intended to have added, as an appendix, the Petition to Parliament on Sites, and the Pastoral Letter, but from the length of the Report this has been found inexpedient.
