ther we wake or fleep, we fhould live together with him.

1 Tim. vi. 13. I give thee charge in the Sight of God, who quickneth all Things, and before Chrift Jefus, who before Pontius Pilate witneffed a good CONFESSION;

14. That thou keep this Comable, until the Appearing of our mandment without Spot, unrebukeLord Jefus Chrift:

15. Which in his Times he shall POTENTATE,the KING OF KINGS, fhew, who is the bleffed and only and LORD of LORDS;

16. Who only hath Immortality, dwelling in the LIGHT which no Man can approach unto; whom no

Man hath feen, nor can fee: To whom be Honour and Power everlafting. Amen.

Our

us, and called us with an HOLY 2 Tim. i. 9. Who hath SAVED Calling, not according to Works, but according to his own Purpose and Grace, which was given us in Chrift Fefus, before the World began,

that I release unto you Barabbas, or Jefus which is called CHRIST? ([Mr.] for he KNEW that the Chief Priefts had DELIVERED him for ENVY) [M] When he was fet down on the Judgment-feat, his Wife fent unto him, faying, Have thou nothing to do with that JUST MAN: for I have SUFFER ED many Things this Day in a DREAM becaufe of him. But the Chief Priefts and Elders perfwaded and [Mr.] moved [M] the Multitude, [Mr.] that he fhould rather releafe Barabbas, and DESTROY Jefus. The Governour answered and faid unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I releafe unto you? [L] And they cried out all at once, faying, Away with this Man, and releafe unto us Barabbas. Pilate therefore willing to release Fefus, [Mr.] anfwered and faid again unto them, [M] What fhall I do then with Jefus, which is called CHRIST, [Mr.] whom ye call the King of the Jews? And they [M] all faid, and Chap. iii. 4. But after that the [Mr.] CRIED out again, [L.] KINDNESS and LOVE of God our faying, [M] unto him, Let SAVIOUR toward Man appeared, him be CRUCIFIED, [L.] nefs, which we have done, but ac5. Not by Works of RighteoufCRUCIFY him, CRUCIFY cording to his MERCY he faved us him [Mr.] Then Pilate, by the wathing of Regeneration, [M] the Governour, [.] and renewing of the HOLY GHOST. faid to them the THIRD time, Why, what EVIL hath he done? 10. But is now made manifeft by Chrift, who hath abolished Death, the Appearing of our Saviour Jefus and hath brought LIFE and IMMORTALITY to LIGHT through the Gospel.

Titus ii. 13. Looking for that bleffed HOPE, and the GLORIOUS Appearing of the great GOD, and our SAVIOUR Jefus Chrift:

14. Who GAVE himself for us,

that he might redeem us from all INIQUITY, and purify unto himfelt a peculiar People, zealous of good Works.

6. Which he fhed on us abun

dantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour:

his Grace, we should be made Heirs 7. That being JUSTIFIED by according to the Hope of Eternal LIFE.

were ye called; because Chrift alfo Chap. ii. 21. For even hereunto fuffered for us, leaving us an Example, that ye fhould follow his Steps:

22. Who did no SIN, neither

was GUILE found in his Mouth:

23. Who when he was reviled, ed, he threatned not; but cOMMITreviled not again; when he fuffer, TED himself to him that judgeth righteoufly:

24. Who his own felf bare our SINS in his own BODY on the Tree, that we being dead to SIN, fhould live unto Righteoufnefs : by whofe STRIPES ye were HEALED.

25. For ye were as Sheep going aftray, but are now returned unto the SHEPHERD and BISHOP of your Souls.

Chap. iii. 18. For Christ also hath once fuffered for SINS, the JUST for the UNJUST (that he might bring us to God) being put to Death in the FLESH, but quickned by the SPIRIT:

Chap. iv. 1. Forasmuch then a Chrift hath fuffered for us in the Flefh, arm your felves likewife with the fame Mind; For he that hath fuffered in the Flefh, hath ceafed from SIN;

[7] Pilate therefore went forth again, and faith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may KNOW that I find no FAULT in him. Pilate faith unto Spirit that beareth witness, because

Jefus answered, Thou couldst have no PoWER at all against me, except it were given thee from ABOVE : Therefore he that delivered me unto thee, hath the greater SIN. And from thenceforth Pilate fought to RELEASE him but the Jews cried out, faying, If thou let this Man go, thou art not Cefar's Friend: Whofoever maketh himfelf a King, fpeaketh againft Cefar. When Pilate therefore heard that Saying, he brought Jefus forth, and fat down in the Judgment-feat, in a Place that is called the PAVEMENT, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. And it was the Preparation of the Paffover, and about the fixth Hour: And he faith unto the Jews, Behold your King. But they cried out, Away with him, AWAY with him, CRUCIFY him, Pilate faith unto them, Shall I crucify

your King? The Chief Priests answered, We have no King but Cefar. [M.] When Pilate faw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a Tumult was made, he took WATER, and wafhed his Hands before the Multitude, faying, I am INNOCENT of the BLOOD of this JUST Perfon: See ye to it. Then answered all the People, and faid, His BLOOD be on us, and on our Children. Then [Mr.] Pilate, willing to content the People, [L.] gave SENTENCE that it fhould be as they required. And he released unto them [Mr.] Barabbas, [Ĺ.] him that for Sedition and Murder was caft into Prifon, whom they had defired: [M.] And when he had fcourged Jefus, he delivered him [L.] to their Will, [M] to be CRUCIFIED.

CHRIST is brought out of the City of Jerufalem, to the Place of bis Suffering.

[7]AND they took fefus, [M] and after that they had MOCKED him, they took [Mr.] the PURPLE ROBE off from him, [M.] and put his own Raiment on him, and LED him away to CRUCIFY [Mr.] him : [7] And he BEARING his CROSS, went forth. [L.] And as they led him away, [M.] they found a Man, [Mr.] one Simon, a Cyrenean, who paffed by, coming out of the Country, the Father of Alexander and Rufus: [L.] and they laid hold on Simon the Cyrenean, [M] him they compelled, [L] and on him they laid the CROSS, that he might bear it after Fefus. And there followed him a great Company of People, and of Women, which alfo bewailed and LAMENTED him. But Jefus turning unto them, faid, Daughters of Jerufalem, WEEP not for me, but WEEP for your felves, and for your Children; for behold, the Days are coming, in the which they fhall fay, Bleffed are the Barren, and the Wombs that never bare, and the Paps which never gave fuck. Then fhall they begin to fay to the MOUNTAINS, FALL on us; and to the Hills, COVER us. For if they do thefe Things in a green TREE, what fhall be done in the DRY? And there were alfo two other Malefactors, led with him to be put to Death.

CHRIST is Crucified. Wine mingled with Myrrh is given him to drink.

[M]AND when they were come to a Place called Golgotha, [Mr. which is, being 'interpreted, the Place of a Skull, they gave him to drink Wine mingled with Myrrh; [M.] Vinegar mingled with Gall: [Mr.] But he received it not: for [M] when he had tafted thereof, he would not drink. [L.] And when they were come to the Place which is called Calvary, there they CRUCIFIED him, [7] and two other [L.] Malefactors [7] with him, [L.] one on the right Hand, and the other on the left, [7] and Jefus in the midft. [Mr.] And it was the THIRD Hour when they CRUCIFIED him. And [M.] then [Mr.] with him they crucified two Thieves; the one on his right Hand, and the other on his left. And the SCRIPTURE was FULFILLED, which. faith, And he was numbred with the TRANSGRESSORS.

CHRIST prays for bis Murderers. The Title writ ten on the Crofs. The Divifion of his Garments.

[Mr.]THEN faid Jefus, Father, FORGIVE them, for

they know not what they DO. [7] And Pilate wrote a Title, and put it on the Crofs: [M.] And they fet up over his HEAD, his Accufation written : [Mr.] And his Accufation was written [L.] over him, in Letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. [7] Then faid the Chief Priests of the Jews to Pilate, write not, The King of the Jews, but that he faid, I am the King of the Jews. Filate answered, What I have written, I have written. Then the Soldiers, when they had CRUCIFIED Jefus, took his Garments, (and made four Parts, to every Soldier a Part) and alfo his Coat: [L.] And they PARTED his RAIMENT, and caft Lors [Mr.] upon them, what every Man fhould take. [7] Now the Coat was without Seam, woven from the Top throughout;
