Note 2. ತಾನು and ತಾವು are used in all the genders; as,

ಅವನು ತಾನು ಬರದ್ದನ್ನು ಓದಿದನು, He read what he had

written.

ಅವಳು ತಾನು ಬರಲಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು; e, She said that she could not come.

ಹುನಿಯು ತಾನಾಗಿ ಆ ಗವಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಹೊಕ್ಕಿತು: ., The tiger entered the den of itself.

Note 3. The Reflexive, in Canarese,. is put in the place of Nouns as well as Pronouns; as, ರಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ತಂದನು e, Rama brought his book.

ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ತಂದನು: ie, He brought his book,

(d) Interrogative Pronouns.

127- Interrogative Pronouns (ಪ್ರತಾರ್ಥಕ ಸರ್ವ g) are used in asking quetions. There are of two kinds: (1) Those inquiring after persons and (2) those inquiring after character or nature; as,

128. An Indefinite Numeral Adjective with & personal sign (ಅನು, ಅಳು, ಅದು, ಅರು, ಅವು or ಅವುಗಳು) added to it forms an Indefinite Pronoun (#IB_ ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥಕಸರ್ವನಾಮ); as, ಬಬ್ಬನು, ಒಬ್ಬಳು, ಒಬ್ಬರು, ಕೆಲವರು ಹ, ಅವರು, ಸಕಲರು, ಸಮಸ್ತರು, ಎಲ್ಲರು, ಯಾವತ್ತರು,

129. When ಬಬ್ಬನು ಒಬ್ಬಳು and ಒಬ್ಬರು are

Note 1. ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬರು ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬರು and ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರು although plural in form are Singular in meaning.

130. When the Personal sign or g isaffixed to the singular and to the plural of

as:-ಒಬ್ಬನು,

a Cardinal Number, it forms a Numeral Pronoun ( ಸಂಖ್ಯಾವಾಚಕ ಸರ್ವನಾಮ ); as: ಒಬ್ಬನು, ಬಬ್ಬಳು, ಇ, ( *ರು, ಮೂವರು, ನಾಲ್ವರು, ಐವರು, ಎಲ್ಲರು, ಎಣ್ಣರು.

Note. ಒಬ್ಬನು is also used as an Indefinite

Pronoun and all these Pronouns are also used as Numeral Adjectives. (See syntax ).

Cases of Pronouns.

131. The Pronoun has all the Cases of the

Noun except the Vocative (ಸಂಬೋಧನೆ )

As most of the Pronouns end in, they are generally declined like a Noun ending in the 'weak' ಈ ( ಅನಿತ್ಯ ಉಕಾರ )

The only exception to this rule is the declension of a few cases of ಏನು
