I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: 33 Shouldst not thou also hav had compassion on thy fellow-se vant, even as I had pity on thee? 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. 35 So like vise shall my heavenly Fà'ther do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his bróther their tres passes. *hun'dred is the solemn, hun'durd the colloquial pronunciation. CHAP. XIX. Christ healeth the sick. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. 13 hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treaş'üre in heaven; and come and follow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowfui: for he had great poş-şess'ións. 23 Then said Jesus unto his dis ciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again' I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly ǎ-ma'zed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all thing: are possible. 27 Then answered Pe'tér, anci said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have there'fore? Then were there brought unto 28 Ard Jesus said unto them, Verhim little children, that he should put lily I say unto you. The labourers in the vineyard.* 11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the good man of the house, 12 Saying, These låst have wrôught but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. 13 But he answered one of them, and said,|| Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst thou not agree' with me for a penny? 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way; I will give unto this last even as unto thee. 15 Is FOR the kingdom of heaven is what is it lot lawful for me to do holder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vine'yard.* 2 And when he had agreed' with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them inte his vine'yard. 3 And he went out about' the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market-place, 4 And said unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and what'so-ev-ér is right I will give you. And they weat their way. 5 Again' he went out about'the sixth and ninth hour,t and did likewise. 6 And about' the eleventh hourt he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 7 They say unto him, because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vine'yard; and what'sō-ěv-ér is right, that shall ye Beceive. 8 So when even was come, the lord of the vine'yard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. 9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they recei'ved every man a penny. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise recei'ved every man a penny. eye evil because I am good? 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last for many be called but few chosen. 17 And Jesus, going up to Jē rû'sa-lěm, took the twelve disciplej ǎ-pàrt in the way, and said unto them, 18 Behold, we go up to Je-rû'salěm; and the Son of Man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19 And shall deliver him to the Gen'tiles to mock, and to scourge, and to cru'ci-fy § him: and the third day he shall rise again'. 20 Then came to him the mother of Zěb'e-dee's children, with her sons, wór'ship-ping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. 21 And he said unto her, What wilt hou? she saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Àre ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We àre able. 23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my l'in'yerd. And presently the fig-tree withered away. 20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig-tree withered away! 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and dôûbt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig-tree, but also, if ye shall say unto this môûn'tain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done. 22 And all things, what'sō-ev-ér ye shall ask in prayer, bēliē'ving, ye shall receive. 23 T And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? 24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? 26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. 27 And they answered Je'şus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. 28 T But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first,* and said, Son, go work to-day in my vine'yard. 29 He answered and said, I will not: but ǎf'tér-wârd he repented, and went. And he came to the second, *furst. and said, I go, sir: and went not. 31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Je'sus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye belie'ved him not: but the publicans and the harlots bēlie'ved him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not ǎf'térwârd, that ye might believe him. 33 ↑ Hear ǎnother parable: There was a certain householder, which plant'ed a vine'yard, and hedged it round about', and digged a wine-press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to huş bánd-měn, and went into a far country. 34 And, when the time of the fruitt drew near, he sent his servants to the huş bánd-men, that they might receive the fruits of it. 35 And the huş'bánd-měn took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned ănóther. 36 Again', he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. 37 But låst of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. 38 But when the huş bánd-měn saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir ;‡ come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance: 39 And they caught him, and çăst him out of the vine'yard, and slew him. 40 When the lord, there'fōre, of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those huş'bánd-men? 41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy' those wicked men, and will let out his vine'yard unto other husband-men, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. 42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 43 There'fore say I unto you, The tăre + frðòl. |
