FOR THE CARE AND SUSTENANCE OF

THE ORPHAN SONS OF OUR VOLUNTEER
SOLDIERS AND SAILORS.

THIS Institution, founded by COLONEL and MRS. YOUNG, for the purpose of gratuitously educating the sons of deceat soldiers and seamen of the United States, was removed last spring from Deposit, Delaware Co., N. Y., to its present locatim, corner of 5th Avenue and 76th Street, New York, where it has been open daily to the inspection of the public; the Cad giving a public dress - parade daily to the admiring thousands who visited them in connection with their visits to Central Park.

This Institute is in the fourth year of successful operation, and last winter presented its claims to the Legislature with the most positive indorsement. It is not a mere home of the friendless, or ordinary orphan asylum, but a Military Institule where the sons of officers and privates shall not feel degraded, but be kept upon the social level on which their fathers plan them previous to the war.

The N. Y. S. Volunteer Institute, second only to West Point, will be open to the reception of Pupils or Cadets from State Asylum in the Union upon complying with the published requirements and constitution of the Institute, making in fact a National Institute for all deserving its advantages.

Among many others, the Cadets have been honored with the following distinguished indorsement: "Believing the Cadets of the N Y. S. Volunteer Institute, composed of the sons of deceased soldiers, worthy of the warmest sympathy and consideration of all true patriots and Christians, we hope the efforts of MR. and MRS. COL. You secure them a home and an education will be most cordially responded to by all who are appealed to in their behalf. "NEW YORK, April 17th, 1866. COLONEL TRAFFORD, 71st Régiment,

The New York Herald, in noticing the performance of the Cadets at the Cooper Institute in this city, compared them to the celebrated 7th Regiment.

They have been reviewed by his Excellency Governor Fenton, Ex-Governor Seymour, Major-General Hooker, Geneni McCullum, an many other distinguished West Point officers, who have expressed their warmest approbation of their military exercises.

For the support of the Institute, hitherto sustained by benevolent individuals, the managers have decided to give at opportunity to the citizens of the United States to contribute to so worthy an object, and previous to
