much in our stead. have. Will you not at once kneel down and ask God to forgive you because you have not loved Him? He has given His dear Son to die for us, and now He is waiting to forgive all who confess their sins and trust in His finished work.

What a hard heart you must

That bad boy who started the 'mock prayer meeting' says, "I asked God to take away my wicked heart and give me a new heart, for Jesus' sake; and I think God forgave me then." Now, you see, he loves to pray and to read the Bible, and "Sunday is the pleasantest time of the whole week." John Bunyan says, "Praying will make us leave off sinning, or sinning will make us leave off praying." So, if this boy runs into the house and prays every time he "comes so near getting mad with the boys," he will soon gain the victory over his bad temper.

Though God is now so ready to save you, it cost Jesus a life of sorrow and dreadful soul and bodily suffering on the cross that He might redeem us.

When we were in Palestine, we spent three days

in Nazareth, where Jesus lived thirty years.

CHILD'S PRAYER.

We walked about the hills where He had often been. We walked down from the brow of the hill where the wicked people sought to cast Him, that they might kill Him, because He had been teaching the truth of God's Word.

But, oh, how much more our blessed Saviour suffered in Gethsemane and on the cross than at Nazareth!

Will you not come to Jesus at once, my dear little friend, and offer this

PRAYER?

I have been very wicked not to love thee, when thou wast so kind as to come down from heaven into this wicked world to die for me, a sinner. I wish to love thee, and to give myself to thee. But I know that I have often been ashamed of thee, though thou wast not ashamed of me. O Lord, change this wicked, proud heart of mine, and help me to love the dear Saviour, who bled and died on the cross for sinners like me. And then, dear Jesus, I shall not be ashamed of thee.

Oh, take me, and make me thine for ever for thine own sake! Amen.

"Jesus! and shall it ever be,

A mortal man ashamed of thee?

Ashamed of thee, whom angels praise,
Whose glories shine through endless days!

"Ashamed of Jesus! that dear friend
On whom my hopes of heaven depend!
No; when I blush, be this my shame,
That I no more revere His name.

"Ashamed of Jesus! Yes, I may
When I've no guilt to wash away;
No tear to wipe, no good to crave,
No fears to quell, no soul to save.

"Till then-nor is my boasting vain-
Till then I boast a Saviour slain.
And oh! may this my glory be,

That Christ is not ashamed of me."
