was establisht by Mr Furnivall, on the completion of the print of the Percy Folio MS, to reprint the known collections of Ballads, like the Roxburghe, Bagford, Rawlinson, Douce, &c., and to print Ballads from MSS, and books illustrating Ballad-History. The Ballad Society books are printed in demy 8vo, like those of the Early English Text Society, and the Percy Folio (but on toned paper for the sake of the Wood-cuts), and also in super-royal 8vo, on Whatman's eightyshilling ribbed paper. The subscription for the demy Svos is One Guinea a year; that for the royal ribbed papers Three Guineas. The subscriptions date from January 1, 1868. The Society's books are not on sale separately to the public. Twenty have been issued. More Members and Local Secretaries are wanted.
