truth, and thou thyself its everlasting light. May it daily bring forth children to thee, walking here by the Gospel, and Spirit of thy Son our Lord Jesus, and hereafter translated from this his mystical body on earth, to thy heavenly choirs above. Send forth thy Holy Ghost, O God, as thou hast promised, that he, dwelling in our hearts, may form our whole inward man, and make us one with thee in charity. And thou, O Holy Ghost, receive and hear our prayers, thou best of comforters, thou author of all good, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

Prayers for the Clergy should be especially used at this time, such as those scattered throughout the Daily Services.

THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord; according to whose most true promise, the Holy Ghost came down as at this time from heaven with a sudden great sound, as it had been a mighty wind, in the likeness of fiery tongues, lighting upon the Apostles, to teach them, and to lead them to all truth; giving them both the gift of divers languages, and also boldness with fervent zeal constantly to preach the Gospel unto all nations; whereby we have been brought out of darkness and error into the clear light and true knowledge of thee, and of thy Son Jesus Christ.

PRAYER FOR TRINITY.

BEFORE thee, O sacred Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, three persons and one God, we bow down. To thee be praise, eternal Father, who madest us out of nothing, and preparest us for thyself. To thee be praise, O uncreated Son, who hast redeemed us by thy blood, and opened for us the gates of heaven. To thee be praise, O Holy Ghost, who hast sanctified us by thy grace, and consecrated us as temples to our God. Glory, glory, glory, be to thee O God most high. Amen.

IN THE THANKSGIVINGS UPON THE FEAST OF

TRINITY ONLY. (See p. 162.)

Or it may be said at other times when confession of this glorious doctrine is desired to be made, but is not intended, as the other prefaces, for a whole week.

WHO art one God, one Lord; not one only

Person, but three Persons in one Substance. For that which we believe of the glory of the Father, the same we believe of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, without any difference or inequality.

To be said by all.

THEREFORE With Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious name, evermore praising thee and saying, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts; heaven and earth are full of thy glory; Glory be to thee, O Lord most High. Amen.

During the week following the Feast of Trinity, one of the weeks near to the Festival of St. Matthew is an Ember Week.

our conversation is in heaven, from whence we also look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change our vile body, that it may be made like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able to subdue all things unto himself. Phil. iii.

God hath highly exalted him, and given him a Name which is above every name; that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil. ii.

From the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my Name shall be great among the Gentiles. Mal. i.

God forbid that I should glory, save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. Gal. vi.

Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. S. Mark viii.
