The thirsty ridges drink their fill, 1392. C. M. 1. SWEET is the mem'ry of Thy grace, 2. God reigns on high,-but ne'er confines His goodness to the skies; Through the whole earth His bounty shines, And every want supplies. 3. With longing eyes, Thy creatures wait On Thee for daily food: Thy liberal hand provides their meat, 4. How kind are Thy compassions, Lord! 5. Creatures with all their endless race, 1393. 7s. 1. As the benighted pilgrims wait, And long and wish for breaking day, So waits my soul before Thy gate;— When will my God His face display? 4. My trust is fixed upon Thy word, Nor shall I trust Thy word in vain; 5. Great is His love, and large His grace, 1399. C. M. 1. GOD of my childhood and my youth! The guide of all my days, I have declared Thy heavenly truth, 2. Wilt thou forsake my hoary hairs, 3. Let me Thy power and truth proclaim To the surviving age, And leave a savor of Thy name, 4. Oh! how will sinners need An advocate to plead, Accepted at Thine awful throne! How, in that solemn hour, Would faith's transcendent power Outweigh all things beneath the sun! 4. Yet save their souls, O Lord! Subdue them by Thy word, Though all their powers oppose Thy reign, Now may Thy foes submit, And bow beneath Thy feet, Nor let them read Thy wrath in vain. 1408. S. M. 1. CAN sinners hope for heaven, Who love this world so well; Or dream of future happiness, While in the road to hell? 2. Shall they hosannas sing, With an unhallowed tongue; Shall psalms adorn the guilty hand Which does its neighbor wrong? 3. Can sin's deceitful way, Conduct to Zion's hill; Or those expect with God to reign, 4. Thy grace, O God, alone, Can a good hope afford! The pardoned and renewed shall see, 1409. L. M. 1.
