2. Jesus, our God, ascends on high;

His heavenly guards around
Attend Him rising through the sky,
With trumpets' joyful sound.

3. While angels shout and praise their King, Let mortals learn their strains;

Let all the earth his honor sing;-
O'er all the earth he reigns.

4. Rehearse his praise, with awe profound;
Let knowledge lead the song;
Nor mock Him with a solemn sound
Upon a thoughtless tongue.

5. In Israel stood His ancient throne:-
He loved that chosen race;
But now He calls the world His own;
The heathen taste His grace.

1. TRIUMPHANT, Christ ascends on high,

The glorious work complete ;

Sin, death, and hell, low vanquished lie,
Beneath His awful feet.

2. There, with eternal glory crowned,
The Lord, the Conqueror reigns;
His praise the heavenly choirs resound,
In their immortal strains.

3. Amid the splendors of His throne,
Unchanging love appears;

The names He purchased for His own
Still on His heart He bears.

4. O, the rich depths of love divine!
Of bliss, a boundless store:

Dear Saviour, let me call Thee mine;
I can not wish for more.

5. On Thee alone, my hope relies;
Beneath Thy cross I fall,

My Lord, my Life, my Sacrifice,
My Saviour, and my All.

1. THE head that once was crown'd with thorn Is crowned with glory now;

A royal diadem adorns

The mighty Victor's brow.

2. The highest place that heaven affords, Is His by sovereign right;

The King of kings, and Lord of lords,
He reigns in glory bright;-
3. The joy of all who dwell above,
The joy of all below,

To whom He manifests His love,
And grants His name to know.

4. To them, the cross, with all its shame,
With all its grace is given;
Their name, an everlasting name,
Their joy-the joy of heaven.

5. They suffer with their Lord below,
They reign with Him above;
Their profit and their joy to know
The mystery of His love.

6. To them the cross is life and health,
Though shame and death to Him;
His people's hope, His people's wealth,
Their everlasting theme.

9:2

277. 7s.

2. Shout, ye seraphs; Gabriel, raise
Thine eternal trump of praise;
Let the earth's remotest bound
Echo to the blissful sound.

3. Now, ye saints, lift up your eyes;
See the Conqueror mount the skies;
Troops of angels on the road,
Hail, and sing the incarnate God.
4. Heaven unfolds its portals wide-
Glorious Hero, through them ride;
King of glory, mount Thy throne;
Boundless empire is Thine own.
5. Praise Him, ye celestial choirs,

Praise, and sweep your golden lyres;
Praise Him in the noblest songs,
From ten thousand thousand tongues.

1. CHRIST, the Lord, is risen to-day,

Our triumphant holy day:
He endured the cross and grave,
Sinners to redeem and save.

2. Lo! He rises, mighty King!
Where, O death! is now thy sting?
Lo! He claims His native sky!
Grave! where is thy victory?
3. Sinners, see your ransom paid,
Peace with God, for ever made:
With your risen Saviour rise;
Claim with Him the purchased skies.

4. Christ, the Lord, is risen to-day,
Our triumphant holy day;
Loud the song of victory raise;
Shout the great Redeemer's praise.

1. HAIL the day that sees Him rise,
Glorious, to His native skies!
Christ, awhile to mortals given,
Enters now the gates of heaven.
2. There the glorious triumph waits;
Lift your heads, eternal gates!

Christ hath vanquished death and sin;
Take the King of glory in.

3. See, the heaven its Lord receives!
Yet He loves the earth He leaves:
Though returning to His throne,
Still He calls mankind His own.
4. Still for us He intercedes,

His prevailing death He pleads;
Near Himself prepares our place,
Great Forerunner of our race.

5. What, though parted from our sight,
Far above yon starry height;
Thither our affections rise,
Foll'wing Him beyond the skies.

Ódors of Edom, and offerings divine?

Gems of the mountain, and pearls of the ocean,
Myrrh from the forest, or gold from the mine?

Vainly with gold would His favor secure ; Richer, by far, is the heart's adoration,Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor.
