1. My God! the spring of all my joys,
The life of my delights,
The glory of my brightest days,
And comfort of my nights.

2. In darkest shades if He appear,
My dawning is begun!

He is my soul's sweet morning star,
And He my rising sun.

3. The opening heavens around me shine With beams of sacred bliss,

While Jesus shows His heart is mine,
And whispers, "I am His!"

4. My soul would leave this heavy clay
At that transporting word,
Run up with joy the shining way,
T' embrace my dearest Lord.

5. Fearless of hell, and ghastly death,
I'd break through every foe:
The wings of love, and arms of faith,
Should bear me conqueror through.

598. C. M.

1. Do not I love Thee, O my Lord?
Behold my heart and see;
And turn the dearest idol out
That dares to rival Thee.

2. Is not Thy name melodious still To mine attentive ear?

WATTS.

Doth not each pulse with pleasure bound, My Saviour's voice to hear?

3. Hast Thou a lamb in all Thy flock
I would disdain to feed?

Hast Thou a foe before whose face
I fear Thy cause to plead?

4. Would not my heart pour forth its blood In honor of Thy name?

And challenge the cold hand of death
To damp th' immortal flame?

5. Thou knowest I love Thee, dearest Lord; But O! I long to soar

Far from the sphere of mortal joys,
And learn to love Thee more.

599. C. M.

DODDRIDGE

1. DEAREST of all the names above,
My Saviour and my God,
Who can resist Thy heavenly love,
Or trifle with Thy blood?

2. 'Tis by the merits of Thy death
Thy Father smiles again;
'Tis by Thine interceding breath
The Spirit dwells with men.
3. Till God in human flesh I see,
My thoughts no comfort find;
The holy, just, and sacred Three
Are terrors to my mind.

4. But if Immanuel's face appear,
My hope, my joy, begin;
His name forbids my slavish fear;
His grace removes my sin.

5. While Jews on their own law rely, And Greeks of wisdom boast,

I love th' incarnate mystery,
And there I fix my trust.

1. Majestic sweetness sits enthroned Upon the Saviour's brow; His head with radiant

His lips with grace o-er-flow.

2. No mortal can with Him compare,
Among the sons of men;
Fairer is He than all the fair
Who fill the heavenly train.

3. He saw me plunged in deep distress, And flew to my relief;

For me He bore the shameful cross,
And carried all my grief.

4. To Him I owe my life and breath,
And all the joys I have;
He makes me triumph over death,
And saves me from the grave.

5. To heaven, the place of His abode,
He brings my weary feet,
Shows me the glories of my Cod,
And makes my joys com e

6. Since from His bounty I receive
Such proofs of love divine,
Had I a thousand hearts to give,
Lord! they should all be thine.

605. C. M.

S. STENNETT.

1. JESUS! I love Thy charming name,
"Tis music to mine ear;

Fain would I sound it out so loud,
That earth and heaven should hear.

2. Yes!-Thou art precious to my soul,
My transport and my trust;
Jewels, to Thee, are guilty toys,
And gold is sordid dust.
