Now, therefore, The Lord Chancellor and The Lord President, being authorized thereto by writing under His Majesty's Sign Manual, by and with the advice of His Majesty's Privy Council, do, on behalf of His Majesty, order, as it is hereby ordered, as follows:

The units of Volunteers detailed in the first column of the Schedule appended hereto shall, as from the 1st April, 1908, be transferred to the Territorial Force, and shall thereafter be units of the Territorial Force, and shall be respectively known by the titles specified in the second column of the said Schedule, and the said Order in Council of 19th March, 1908, shall accordingly have effect as if the Schedule to this Order formed part of the Schedule to that Order.

Regulations as to Assistance of Unemployed.

(a.) England.

THE REGULATIONS (ORGANISATION FOR UNEMPLOYED)

SECOND SERIES, 1908. DATED NOVEMBER, 17, 1908.

To every Central Body established or to be established

under the Unemployed Workmen Act, 1905; -* To every Distress Committee established or to be estab

lished and to every Special Committee constituted or to

be constituted under that Act;
To the London County Council; -
To the Councils of all other Administrative Counties;-
To the Mayor, Aldermen, and Commons of the City of

London in Common Council assembled ;-
To the Mayor, Aldermen, and Councillors of each Metro-

politan Borough;
To the Council of every Municipal Borough or Urban

District to which the said Act applies; — And to all others whom it may concern. Whereas with respect to the conditions under which an application may be entertained by a Distress Committee under the Unemployed Workmen Act, 1905, Article II. of the Regulations (Organisation for Unemployed), 1905,7 provides as follows:

“iv. In the case of each applicant the Distress Committee shall call for and consider the Record Paper which, in pursuance of these Regulations, has been provided and is in use in relation to the case, and shall satisfy themselves :

"(c) That he is not, and has not been during the period of twelve months immediately preceding the date of the application, in receipt of relief (other than medical relief) at the cost of the poor rate;

(d) That he has not in two successive periods of twelve months immediately preceding the date of the application, been employed on work provided by a Central Body, or on

work towards the provision of which a Central Body have

contributed;" And whereas by the Regulations (Organisation for Unemployed), 1908,* the Regulations (Organisation for Unemployed), 1905, were amended so far as regards the above-cited provisions, and it is expedient to make further provision in relation to the subject-matter of the conditions set forth in those provisions :

Now therefore, We, the Local Government Board, in the exercise of Our powers in that behalf, do hereby make the following Regulations; that is to say:

(6.) The expression “The Supplemental Regulations of

1908 " means the Regulations (Organisation for

Unemployed), 1908; and
(c.) Other words and expressions have the same meaning

as in the Principal Regulations. Article II.-The Supplemental Regulations of 1908* are Rescission of hereby rescinded.

Supplemental Regulations

of 1908. Article III.- From and after the date of these Regulations Conditions the Principal Regulations shall have effect as if the para- affecting graphs (c) and (d) were omitted from the condition numbered applications,
