LAND, DATED JANUARY 1, 1908, AS TO REGISTRATION OF BUTTER FACTORIES, AND OF MANUFACTORIES OF, AND PREMISES OF WHOLESALE DEALERS IN, MarGARINE AND MARGARINE-CHEESE OR MILK-BLENDED BUTTER.

To the Owners and Occupiers for the time being of Manu

factories of Margarine and Margarine-cheese and of premises, wherein the business of a Wholesale Dealer in Margarine or Margarine-cheese is carried on in Scotland, to which the Margarine Act, 1887*, as amended

by the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1899+, applies :To the Owners and Occupiers for the time being of Butter Factories and of premises in Scotland on which there is manufactured any Milk-blended Butter (as defined in the Butter and Margarine Act, 19078), or on which there is carried on the business of a Wholesale Dealer in

Milk-blended Butter: To the several Local Authorities under the said Acts for

the time being in Scotland:And to all others whom it may concern : Whereas by Section 23 of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1899, all the powers and duties vested in or imposed on the Secretary for Scotland in relation to the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts are transferred to, vested in, and imposed on Us, the Local Government Board for Scotland :

And whereas by Section 9 of the Margarine Act, 1887, as amended by Sections 5, 7, and 23 of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1899, provision is made for the Registration with the

Local Authority of every Manufactory of Margarine Margarine-cheese (as defined respectively by the said Acts) and of the premises wherein the business of a Wholesale Dealer in Margarine or Margarine-cheese is carried on in Scotland from time to time in such manner as We may direct:

And whereas by Section 1 of the Butter and Margarine Act, 1907, the provisions aforesaid as to Registration are extended to Butter Factories and to premises on which there is manufactured any Milk-blended Butter (as defined respectively in the said Act), or on which there is carried on the business of a Wholesale Dealer in Milk-blended Butter:

And whereas in terms of the provisions of the Margarine Act, 1887, the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1889,* the Burgh Police (Scotland) Act, 18927, and the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1899, the Local Authorities with whom such manufactories and premises are to be registered are as follows, namely, The County Council for Counties, and the Town Council for Burghs, including Police Burghs:

Now, therefore, We, the Local Government Board for Scotland, in substitution for our Order of the twenty-second day of January in the year One thousand nine hundredi, which is hereby revoked, do hereby order and direct as follows:

Article I.-Every owner or occupier of a Manufactory of Margarine or Margarine-Cheese, or of premises wherein the business of a Wholesale Dealer in Margarine or MargarineCheese is carried on in Scotland, and every owner or occupier of a Butter Factory or of premises on which there is manufactured any Milk-blended Butter or on which there is carried on the business of a Wholesale Dealer in Milk-blended Butter, who shall make application to the Local Authority for a Certificate of Registration under the aforesaid Acts, shall, in his application, state the following particulars : (a.) The name and address of the owner or occupier making

the application. (6.) The situation of the manufactory, factory, or premises. (c.) The name and address, or names and addresses, of the

owner or owners, or occupier or occupiers, carrying

on the manufacture or business. (d.) Whether the premises are proposed to be registered

as

(1) A Butter Factory;
(2) A Margarine Manufactory;
