Yet hope to feel thy comfort near,
And bless thee in our prayer.

1. O HOLY, holy, holy Lord !

Jehovah ! King of kings! 4.When tongues shall cease, and pow'r decay, To thee, exalted and adored, And knowledge empty prove,

ECCLES. ix: 10.

But wisdom shows a narrow path, 2. No bleeding bird, nor bleeding beast,

With here and there a traveler. Nor hyssop branch, nor sprinkling priest, Nor running brook, nor flood, nor sea, 2.“ Deny thyself, and take thy cross," Can wash the dismal stain away.

Is the Redeemer's great command : 3 Jesus, my God! thy blood alone : Nature must count her gold but dross, Hath power sufficient to atone:

If she would gain this heavenly land. Thy blood can make me white as snow; 3. The fearful soul that tires and faints, No Jewish types could cleanse me so.

And walks the ways of God no more, 4 While guilt disturbs and breaks my peace, Is but esteemed almost a saint,

Nor flesh, nor soul hath rest or ease : And makes his own destruction sure. Lord, let me hear thy pard’ning voice,

4. Lord ! let not all my hopes be vain; And make my broken bones rejoice.

Create my heart entirely new; 190. Probation in this Life only.

Which hypocrites could ne'er attain; J. LIFE is the time to serve the Lord,

Which false apostates never knew The time t'insure the great reward; And while the lamp holds out to burn, The vilest sinner may return.

1. DEEP are the wounds which sin has made; 2 Life is the hour that God has given

Where shall the sinner find a cure ? T escape

from hell and fly to heaven; In vain, alas, is nature's aid; The day of grace, -and mortals may The work exceeds all nature's power. Secure the blessings of the day.

2. And can no sovereign balm be found ? 8 Then what my thoughts design to do, And is no kind physician nigh,

My hands, with all your might pursue, To ease the pain and heal the wound, Since no device, nor work is found,

Ere life and hope forever fly? Nor faith, nor hope, beneath the ground.

3. There is a great physician near, 4 There are no acts of pardon passed

Look up, O fainting soul, and live; In the cold grave to which we haste ;

See, in his heavenly smiles appear But darkness, death, and long despair

Such ease as nature cannot give! Reign in eternal silence there.

4. See, in the Saviour's dying blood, “ The Narrow Way." 191. Matt. vii : 13, 14.

Life, health, and bliss abundant flow! 1. Broad is the road that leads to death, 'Tis only this dear sacred food

Ånd thousands walk together there; Can ease thy pain, and heal thy woe.
