Majesty is thine for ever; Ever be thy name adored.

And David said, "Blessed be Thou."

63. 1 CHRON. xxix; 10-23.

1. BLEST be thou, O God of Israel! Thou, our Father and our Lord! Majesty is thine for ever;

Ever be thy name adored.

2. Thine, O Lord, are power and greatness;
Glory, victory, are thine own;
All is thine in earth and heaven,
Over all thy boundless throne.

Riches come of thee, and honor:
Power and might to thee belong;
Thine it is to make us prosper,

Only thine to make us strong.

4. Lord, our God, for these thy bounties,

Hymns of gratitude we raise; To thy name, for ever glorious, Ever we address our praise.

[blocks in formation]

. Father, Source of all compassion, Pure, unbounded grace is thine: Hail the God of our salvation!

Praise him for his love divine.

. For ten thousand blessings given,
For the hope of future joy,

Sound his praise thro' earth and heaven,
Sound Jehovah's praise on high.

4. Joyfully on earth adore him,

Till in heaven our song we raise; There, enraptured, fall before him,

Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

65. Prayer for the Saviour': guidance. 1. GENTLY, Lord! oh, gently lead us Through this lonely vale of tears; Through the changes thou'st decreed us Till our last great change appears. 2. When temptation's darts assail us, When in devious paths we stray, Let thy goodness never fail us; Lead us in thy perfect way.

3. In the hour of pain and anguish,

In the hour when death draws near,
Suffer not our hearts to languish,
Suffer not our souls to fear.

4. And, when mortal life is ended
Bid us on thy bosom rest;
Till, by angel-bands attended,
We awake among the blest.
Doxology.

PRAISE the God of our salvation,

Praise the Father's boundless love
Praise the Lamb, our expiation;

Praise the Spirit from above:
Praise the Fountain of salvation,
Him by whom our spirits live;
Undivided adoration

To the one Jehovah give!

1. SOFTLY fades the twilight ray
Of the holy Sabbath day;
Gently as life's setting sun,
When the Christian's course is run.

2. Peace is on the world abroad;
'Tis the holy peace of God;
Symbol of the peace within,
When the spirit rests from sin.

3. Still the Spirit lingers near,

Where the evening worshiper Seeks communion with the skies, Pressing onward to the prize. 4. Saviour, may our Sabbaths be Days of peace and joy in thee! Till in heaven our souls repose, Where the Sabbath ne'er shall close.

67.

1. THOU, from whom we never part,
Thou, whose love is everywhere,
Thou, who seest every heart,
Listen to our evening prayer.

2 Father, fill our hearts with love,
Love unfailing, full and free;
Love that no alarm can move,
Love that ever rests on thee.

8. Heavenly Father! thro' the night Keep us safe from every ill; Cheerful as the morning light,

May we wake to do thy will.

1 CORINTHIANS ii: 4.

1. FATHER, bless thy word to all,
Quick and powerful let it prove;
Oh, may sinners hear thy call,
Let thy people grow in love.
2. Thine own gracious message bless,
Follow it with power divine:
Give the gospel great success,
Thine the work, the glory thine.
3. Father, bid the world rejoice,
Send, oh, send thy truth abroad;
Let the nations hear thy voice,
Hear it and return to God.

4. Sing we to our God above
Praise eternal as his love:
Praise him, all ye heavenly host-
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

69.

1. SOFTLY now the light of day
Fades upon my sight away;
Free from care, from labor free,
Lord, I would commune with thee.
2. Soon, for me, the light of day
Shall for ever pass away:
Then, from sin and sorrow free,
Take me, Lord, to dwell with thee.
Doxology.

SING we to our God above
Praise eternal as his love:
Praise him, all ye heavenly host-
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

day is de-clining, Safety and in-no-cence fly with the light, Temptation and Sav-iour of all; Fee-ble and faint-ing, we trust in Thy might,In doubting and

danger walk forth with the night; From the fall of the shade till the morning bells darkness Thy love be our light; Let us sleep on Thy breast while the night taper

chime, Shield me from danger, save me from crime. Father,have mercy, Father,have burns, Wake in Thy arms when morning re-turns. Father,

The Scriptures.

DR. L. MASON.

UXBRIDGE. L. M.

1. The heavens declare thy glo- ry, Lord; In ev'ry star thy wis - dom shines;

But when our eyes be-hold thy word, We read thy name in fair - er lines.

76.

The Works and the Word of God.
PSALM XIX.

2. THE rolling sun, the changing light,
And night, and day, thy power confess;
But the blest volume thou hast writ
Reveals thy justice and thy grace.

3. Sun, moon, and stars convey thy praise
Round the whole earth, and never stand;
So when thy truth began its race,
It touched and glanced on every land.
4. Nor shall thy spreading gospel rest,

Till thro' the world thy truth hath run;
Till Christ hath all the nations blest
That see the light, or feel the sun.

77.

The Gospel.
1. GOD, in the gospel of his Son,

Makes his eternal counsels known:
Here love in all its glory shines,
And truth is drawn in fairest lines.

2. Here sinners, of an humble frame,
May taste his grace and learn his name;
May read, in characters of blood,
The wisdom, power, and grace of God.

3. Here faith reveals to mortal eyes

A brighter world beyond the skies;
Here shines the light which guides our way
From earth to realms of endless day.
4. Oh, grant us grace, almighty Lord!
To read, and mark thy holy word:
Its truths with meekness to receive,
And by its holy precepts live.

[blocks in formation]

1. Now let my soul, eternal King,

To thee its grateful tribute bring;
My knee with humble homage bow,
My tongue perform its solemn vow.
2. All nature sings the boundless love,
In worlds below, and worlds above;
But in thy blesséd word I trace
Diviner wonders of thy grace.

3. Here what delightful truths I read!
Here I behold the Saviour bleed;
His name salutes my listening ear,
Revives my heart and checks my fear.
4. Here Jesus bids my sorrows cease,
And gives my laboring conscience peace,
Here lifts my grateful passions high,
And points to mansions in the sky.
5. For love like this, oh, let my song
Thro' endless years, thy praise prolong
Let distant climes thy name adore,
Till time and nature are no more.
