The Class will be formed on the day following the October Entrance Examination of each year, and placed under the direction of the following gentlemen :

REV. SAMUEL HAUGHTON, M. A., Fellow of Trinity College, and Professor of Geology in the University of Dublin.

It is intended that all Students joining this Class shall present themselves for examination in Pure and Mixed Mathematics, Geometrical and Engineering Drawing, Experimental Sciences, and English in addition to these four Courses, each Candidate will be instructed either in Classics or Moral Sciences.

1. Policies of Assurance may be transferred from one Life to another. 2. Assurances effected at moderate rates for short terms of years, RENEWABLE, if desired, at the end of the term.

3. Life and Guarantee Assurance may be united in one Policy, by a valuable principle of combination.

4. Provision for Old Age and Annuities are granted on a new and advantageous principle, specially prepared by Arthur Scratchley, Esq., M.A., F. R. A. S., the Society's Consulting Actuary.

5. Endowments for Children; premiums returnable in case of death before the age agreed.

6. Policies will also be granted for the Assurance of persons against Death, Injury, or Affliction, by Accident, or other contingency.

7. Medical Men in all cases paid by the Society.

There are many other new and important features in connexion with this Society, such as a Benevolent Fund, Sickness Assurance, a Savings Bank Department, and Scholarships tenable at the Universities, &c., which cannot be specified in the space of an advertisement, but of which a Prospectus can be had on application to the Local Secretary, who will also supply the proper forms for ASSURANCE, and for application for the remaining Shares. One Pound is payable on each Share on being allotted. In the event of a call, no more than ten shillings can be called for on each Share, and there must be an interval of three months at least between each call. No further payment, however, is contemplated beyond the first deposit.

Exhibitions.

At each Division a portion of the Profits allotted to the Proprietors will be set aside to form a Fund for the establishment of SCHOLARSHIPS to be competed for by the RELATIONS OR PUPILS OF MEMBERS holding not less than Five Shares in the Society's Stock, and who shall, by the time of the Election, have introduced to the Society Assurances on their own lives or the lives of others, to the extent of at least £250.

Adopting the estimate of the eminent Actuary, Mr. SCRATCHLEY, M.A., prepared for the Society, the Board propose that the number of SCHOLARSHIPS to be established should be seven, viz. :—

One Scholarship of £50 per annum for Three years, tenable at Oxford.

Examiners will be chosen from Members of the several Universities, and the first examination will take place in the latter part of 1857, or early in 1858.
