The Promus of Formularies and Elegancies[: Illustrated and Elucidated by Passages from Shakespeare1883. The Promus was Francis Bacon's storehouse from which he would draw forth things new and old, turning, twisting, expanding, modifying, and changing them with a nimbleness of mind of which he felt himself to be specially endowed. It is a storehouse also of pithy expressions that can be found throughout Shakespeare's (Bacon's) writings. |
