Swinburne's (London, 1779, 4to) are the best and pleasantest travels in this little-illustrated region. Dalrymple, Dillon, Bourganne, Townsend, Carter, Twiss, and Murphy are of little value. Southey's Letters from Spain and Portugal are good and agreeable; Bristol, 1799, 8vo. Roscoe's Landscape Annuals, 1835, 6 (Granada and Andalusia), afford good information. De la Borde's Voyage Pittoresque de l'Espagne, Paris, 1807, 4 vols. folio, with his Itinerary, in Spanish, Madrid, 2 vols. 4to, are complete, but costly illustrations of Spanish scenery. Espinalt y Garcia's Atlante Español, Madrid, 1778, 14 vols. 8vo; Lopez, Geographia Historica de España, Madrid, 1788, 2 vols. 8vo, are worth possessing.

There is an American reprint, in 6 vols. 12mo. The several books of Gilpin, as to forest scenery, &c., are good, in regard to British landscape. Simond's and Saussure's are good travels. Lyson's Environs of London may be joined to Pennant's. Arnot has given a good history of Edinburgh. Grose's Antiquities (and Topography) of England, Wales, and Scotland, are important. Camden's Britannia is indispensable for antiquities and local history. In it, the ancient geography of the islands is well treated; as likewise in the 1st and 2d volumes of Henry's History of Great Britain.
