esteem. The essays signed Brutus, and entitled "The Crisis," by the late Robert J. Turnbull, published at Charleston, S. C., 1829; the various writings of John Taylor of Caroline on constitutional law; the miscellanies of Governor Giles (Richmond, 1829, 8vo), and other things, which will be found referred to in POLITICS, are important in the theory of constitutional law, according to the interpretation of the republican school.

The codes of Louisiania, drawn up by a distinguished citizen of NewYork, are valuable. The state of South Carolina is employing an able jurist (Dr. Thomas Cooper) to bring into a single body her statute and constitutional law. He has published one volume. Columbia, 1836.
