Bettina L. Knapp is Thomas Hunter Professor emerita at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Professor Knapp is a knight in the Order of Arts and Letters, an honor presented to her by the French Government. She earned her Ph.D. at Columbia University.
