PROPHECIES RELATING TO OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Gen. 3. 15, "And I will put enmity between thee (the serpent) and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel;" see Gen. 3. 15, notes land m.

Gen. 12. 3, "In thee (Abram) shall all families of the earth be blessed," i.e. through Jesus Christ, who should become the Saviour of all who believe. In Gen. 18. 18 and 22. 18, this prophecy is repeated in almost similar words to Abraham..

In Gen. 26. 4, it is renewed to Isaac.

In Gen. 28. 14, it is confirmed to Jacob.

Gen. 17. 6, "And kings shall come of thee" (Abraham), receiving its fulfilment in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, "The King of Kings, and Lord of Lords."

In Gen. 35. 11 the same promise is renewed to Jacob.

Gen. 21. 12, "In Isaac shall thy seed be called," i.e. the posterity of Abraham should descend through Isaac-and not through Ishmael-to Jesus Christ.

Gen. 49. 8, "Judah, thou art he whom all thy brethren shall praise."

(Fulfilled in Christ, who was of the tribe of Judah, whom all the Christian world doth praise ;)

"Thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies."

(Heb. 10. 13, "From henceforth expecting"-awaiting the time"till his (Jesus Christ's) enemies be made his footstool.")

"Thy father's children shall bow down before thee.'

(Fulfilled in Christ, Heb. 2. 9, 10, "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name : that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.")

Gen. 49. 10, "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh (Jesus Christ) come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be;" (see Gen. 49, note e).
