At the conclusion Ferney hung upon The Stoker, and the rider of the latter claimed the race on the ground of a jostle. The case was heard by the acting Steward, assisted by two members of the Club, who decided that the charge was not proved, and they awarded the race to Ferney.

The Champagne Stakes of 30 sovs. each, h. ft., with 50 sovs. added by the Club, for two years old colts 8st. 10lb., and fillies 8st. 71b.; the winner of any two years old stake amounting to £100, including the winner's own stake, to carry 4lb. extra for every such winning; the winner gave three dozen of champagne to the Club; last three quarters of the New mile (12 subscribers).
