The above four estimates, No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4, included cost of stock, freight, and workmanship, as ordered, per samples No. 1, No. 2 a, No. 3 b, and No. 4.

Ninety per cent. of the amount and materials delivered according to the contract and price (saidamount to be as certained by the estimate of the superintendent appointed for that purpose) shall be paid, from time to time, as the delivery proceeds, and ten per cent. retained until

the completion of the contract and acceptance of the work, &c., by the superintendent aforesaid.

Ninety per cent. of the amount of the work done and to be done at Washington city, according to the contract and price, shall be paid, from time to time, as the work proceeds, and ten per cent. retained until the completion of the contract and acceptance of the work as aforesaid.

The dimensions, sizes, models, &c., shall be furnished by the department, by which all measurements are governed.

The ornamental work to be clean wrought, and agreeable to the directions and models given by the superintendent, and will be paid in proportion of the prices as aforesaid.

By circular work, cornice, &c., will the part cut off from the square work be measured into the rough stock, and be paid as aforesaid. NEW YORK, August 18, 1855.

In consideration of one dollar to each of us, in hand paid by the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, we, Adolphus Charles Fromm and Eligius Moser, of the city and State of New York, hereby guarantee to the said Secretary of the Treasury, his successors and assigns, that John Joseph Rink, who has signed the foregoing bid and proposals, will, when required, if his proposals be accepted, enter into a contract and bond, with proper and sufficient securities, in the sum of $50,000 for the faithful performance of the same, if for the whole work, and for a proportionate amount if for a part thereof.
