2d Session.

No. 19.

RAMSEY AND RICHARDSON.

[To accompany bill H. R. No. 627.]

JANUARY 5, 1855.

Mr. HENDRICKS, from the Committee on Invalid Pensions, made the fol

lowing REPORT.

The Committee on Invalid Pensions, to whom was referred the memorial of the members of the Legislature of the State of Tennessee, on behalf of Thomas C. Ramsey and Ananias O. Richardson, have had the same under consideration, and report:

That the said Ramsey and Richardson served as privates in the Mexican war, and behaved most gallantly at the battle of Monterey, and in that battle they each lost their right arm, and that they are now receiving pensions at the rate of eight dollars per month. The committee find the services gallant, the loss great, and the disability complete and total, and that a pension of eight dollars per month is not sufficient for the support of the parties, and they therefore report a bill for their relief for the action of the House, but do not recommend its passage, as it would be a departure from the policy heretofore adopted by Congress.

2d Session.

No. 20.

GEORGE M. BENTLEY.

[To accompany bill H. R. No. 628.]

JANUARY 5, 1855.

Mr. A. STUART, from the Committee on Invalid Pensions, made the fol

lowing REPORT.

The Committee on Invalid Pensions report:

That upon a re-examination of the case of Geo. M. Bentley, to whom a pension was granted by act of Congress, passed at the last session of Congress, it is found that the committee were misled in the report made by them, favorable to the claim of said Bentley, and that the injury or disability for which the pension was granted, existed at the time the said Bentley entered the service of the United States. They therefore report a bill repealing the act passed for the relief of said Bentley.
