Gloria D. Pickar, R.N., Ed.D. is President and Chief Academic Officer of Compass Knowledge Group in Orlando, Florida. She is a former Academic Dean at Seminole State College in Sanford, Florida, and is among our most successful Delmar authors. In addition to nine editions of DOSAGE CALCULATIONS, the most popular dosage calculation book on the market, she wrote Dosage Calculations: A Ratio Proportion Approach, 3rd Edition.
Hope Graham completed her Master of Nursing degree at Dalhousie University in 1985. She has worked in Sierra Leone and in Canada's Arctic where she planned and coordinated immunization clinics, under-five clinics and well women clinics. She lived in Haiti for 13 weeks as part of her undergraduate degree program, an experience that included a half trimester of study while living with a national family, and a half trimester of nursing on La Gonave Island. Hope volunteered for ten years as an RN and member of the Medical Advisory Committee at the Red Door (a charitable Adolescent Health and Support Centre) in Kentville, NS. Hope is an Assistant Professor, School of Nursing, St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, NS. She is also a licensed glider pilot instructor and Chair of the Bluenose Soaring Club in Stanley, NS.
Beth Swart A professor at Ryerson since 1972, Beth is involved in curriculum development in the post RN program and the four-year Ryerson, Centennial, George Brown Collaborative Nursing Degree Program. Beth is course leader for the Pathophysiology and Acute and Traumatic Conditions courses in the collaborative program and the Epidemiology and Acute and Traumatic Conditions courses in the post diploma program. As course leader, two primary responsibilities are to ensure quality course delivery and academic integrity. Beth is a leader in creating and using innovative teaching strategies. She was the first to create and facilitate online course delivery as well as develop and teach a hybrid course. She was also the leader in using Personal Response System (clickers) technology in the classroom. Beth is active in publishing. She has written and contributed to articles for Canadian Nurse, has edited two textbooks and written two chapters for a fundamentals book. She has also contributed extensively in providing peer reviews for numerous textbooks. Beth is engaged in two funded pilot research projects as Principle Investigator. As well, in collaboration with the Post diploma team, she is involved in the RPN to BScN pilot project, funded by MOHLTC. Most recently, Beth is involved in Ryerson University/Ontario Telemedicine Joint Collaborative 30 Month Post-Diploma Program for Registered Nurses, a delivery modality to reach small and rural communities.
Margaret Swedish is based at MacEwan in Edmonton and has taught the Dosage Calculations course for over 10 years.
